office manager Cat Lax is just back from Holland, she’s been sailing on James Cook with a crew of blind teenagers. She reports that despite not being able to see, they were all terrific helmsmen and women – they could feel the wind on their faces and had a very gentle touch on the boat’s wheel. She also said that one morning it snowed so hard they had to sweep seveal inches of snow off the deck before going sailing. Pics and a voyage report soon.

Yes it was cold and wet and snowy but very, very worthwhile and a fantastic experience for all the young people who took part. “A life changing experience”, “We found we could do things we never thought we could”, “We miss all the James Cook Crew they were so helpful to us” were just some of the comments made on the way back home as we braved the storm in the North Sea. (Thanks for the warning Guys!)
The youngsters haven’t stopped talking about how enjoyable the experience was.
We will be in touch again soon but in the meantime – look after yourselves and have a safe return journey to the UK.
